At New College Leicester, our curriculum is designed to ensure a rounded education for all our young people. During Year 7 and 8 students experience a broad range of subjects, including a variety of arts-based subjects. In Year 9, students study fewer subjects at a greater depth by specialising in three Arts and Culture based subjects.
It is important that each student understands and identifies their own strengths and weaknesses and chooses the pathway they will enjoy studying.
You will find more detailed information in our ‘Arts and Culture Options Guide’ and via the links below.
To choose their preferred pathway students need to complete the online application or collect and return an application form via school reception. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 17th March.
If you have any concerns do not hesitate to contact your child’s form tutor or Mrs Amani (Head of Year 8).
Arts and Culture Pathways
In addition to the core curriculum, students choose one Arts and Culture Pathway that enables them to study three creative or cultural based subjects in more detail. The pathways are as follows:
Pathway 1: Expressive Arts - Art, Dance and Drama
Pathway 2: Performing Arts - Dance, Drama and Music
Pathway 3: Visual Design - Art, Design & Technology and Media Studies
Pathway 4: Appreciating Culture - Design & Technology, Media Studies and Spanish
Pathway 5: Production Arts - Design & Technology, Drama Production and Music Technology
