Re: Coronavirus update – School Closure from Friday 20th March 12.30 pm
Following on from my last update, I’m now writing to let you know that we have now been instructed by the government to close the school after this Friday until further notice. We will be closing at lunchtime on Friday to allow staff to prepare work which will be emailed to students via their school email accounts.
We are waiting for the government to publish more information on what they mean in terms of providing a service for key workers, but it would help us in the meantime if you could let us know if you think your child may fall into one of these categories and you have no-one else who can look after them. Please email email@example.com outlining your situation in detail please. We’ll be in touch again as soon as we are sure who this does apply to.
In the meantime - ALL children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards.
Please note that this is a national closure – as you may have heard in the news – so while it is a challenging situation, we are not alone. We will re-open fully as soon as we can and will let you know when this is by email, text, social media and on our website.
Your child’s learning is of course important to us, so we’ll continue to help your child to learn. Each student will be given a pack of work and a book to complete the work in, tomorrow at school. For those who are currently self-isolating, we will post this to you as soon as possible.
Ongoing arrangements regarding work for students:
Work will be emailed out to students using their school email address. NOTE: all passwords will be reset to password1234 in case your child has forgotten their password
Work will be put onto the website for students to access
Class teachers will be available to answer email queries about the work – email addresses will be sent separately. Teachers will endeavor to answer queries within 48 hours providing that they are well.
Printed workpacks can be provided if necessary, by contacting the Head of Year
If your child usually receives free school meals, we will also be in touch by text message with more information about how we will continue to provide this in the first instance, while we wait for more information about the scheme that the government has just announced.
This is as much as we know right now, and we appreciate your continued patience with us as we deal with this ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and it is far from ideal, but we’ll continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.
If you want to get in touch to share any concerns, please do not hesitate to do so via your child’s Head of Year.
And remember: if you or your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please use NHS 111 online.
Thank you again for your continued support, and we will be in touch with more information when we can.
