Summary of Partnership
New College Leicester students attend school games competitions throughout the year which are organised into 3 strands; inspire, develop & excel. These events offer engaging physical activity and sport for all interests and abilities.
Leadership
Our students also have access to Sports Leadership training and events, some of which are hosted at New College Leicester. This allows us to work closely with partnership organisers and local primary schools.
Projects
Hosting the primary schools football league on Monday afternoons. Selected students from our BTEC Sport classes are in the process of gaining their FA Level 1 refereeing course in order to lead at these events.
Student Comment
Enjoyed going to the events, it was fun. Everyone was very supportive of each other and there was good sportsmanship.
Staff Comment
Over the course of the year our students from New College Leicester gets given the opportunity to help lead many primary school events whether that’s hosted here at New College or elsewhere. We have been to places like Aylestone leisure centre, Loughborough University and Kirby Muxloe Golf Course to help lead a range of activities such as Athletics, Boccia, Kurling, Tri-Golf, Cycling, Tennis and Gymnastics.
The Inspire Together events have been a great platform for our New College Leicester students to develop their leadership and management skills. These events give our students the confidence to be young independent individuals and also the courage to step out of their comfort zones. Not only they get to experience leading a variety of sporting activities but also able to be great role models to the younger generation.
What I enjoy about these events is seeing the togetherness and how they make the environment positive for young children to feel safe to take part in a range of activities.
